Have you ever wondered what are the most famous extinct animals are? Well, I am going to tell you about them today.

The first animal is the Quinkana. The Quinkana is a part of the crocodile family and looks like a giant one. The quinkana started to appear 24 million years ago.The quinkana started to go extinct 40,000 to 35,000 years ago. The quinkana can grow to lengths about 10 meters long. The jaw alone can be 1.5 meters.

The second animal I am going to talk about is the ground sloth. The ground sloth belongs to the bear family they existed 2 million to 35 million years ago. They lived 10,000 years but are now are extinct. They had large claws and blunt teeth. They were herbivores and ate leaves, grasses, agaves, and yuccas. Paleontologists don't know why the ground sloth become extinct. They lived in Central and South America.Image result for the ground sloth

My third animal is the Wooly Mammoth. The wooly mammoth is like a giant elephant but they have long woolly brown hair and they are a lot bigger. The wooly mammoth got wiped out in the ice age and humans hunted them for their horns.

They belong to the elephant family, they eat grasses and they have very large trunks which can reach on average 5 meters. They became extinct 3600 years ago.

The last animal I am going to tell you about is the saber-tooth tiger. The Saber tooth tiger had long sharp canine teeth and this is how it got its name. They prey on and eat other animals. They were very aggressive predators. They have strong neck muscles and weighed between 55 to 100 kgs.

They were found in North and South America. They lived in the time of the dinosaurs 55 million years ago. Scientist thinks it became extinct because of climate change.

I think these animals are interesting because they are huge and no one has ever seen them in real life.
